How we list restaurants

We do not certify anything

Halal Directory is not a certification body. We have never inspected a kitchen. Everything on this site is a summary of public information, and you should confirm with the restaurant before you order.

Where the data comes from

Our 1,736 restaurants come from public Google Maps listings across 359 cities in Belgium and the Netherlands. Names, addresses, phone numbers, opening hours, star ratings and photos are Google's, not ours. That means they can be out of date, and a restaurant can change hands or change its supplier without the listing changing.

What the two badges mean

Listed as halal
The restaurant describes itself as halal — in its own name, or in the category it chose on Google. This is the restaurant's claim about itself. We have not checked its certificate.
Halal mentioned by diners
Halal comes up in the listing's details or in customer reviews, but the restaurant does not say it itself. Treat this as a hint, not a promise, and ask before you order.

Ratings are Google ratings

Every star score on this site is the Google score, labelled as such. We do not have our own reviews yet, so we do not pretend the number is ours.

Fixing a listing

If you run one of these restaurants, you can claim your listing, correct anything wrong, and add your halal certificate so diners see it.
